Grandpa Emerson Whitehurst compiled this scrapbook of his time during and after his service in World War I. He was a member of the 309th Engineers, the “Lincoln Division” which was young men from Indiana and Ohio. See the scrapbook here.

The 309th “Lincoln Division” Organized to Camp Taylor and consisted primarily of men from Indiana and Kentucky. The division was broken up in LeMans France and the Engineers served as training instructors for the front like combat divisions.
